About
Across centuries, Christian pastors and theologians have left the church a rich inheritance of biblical exposition, doctrinal teaching, and pastoral wisdom. Finding the passage that addresses your question, however, can mean searching through hundreds of books.
Reformed Corpus brings that inheritance within reach.
Search in your own words and discover authentic excerpts from Monergism’s theological library. Results begin with related Scripture, followed by relevant confessional teaching and passages from multiple Christian authors—with citations and links to their sources.
A Chain of Testimony Under Scripture
Reformed Corpus links faithful Christian testimony around the authoritative Word of God. The order of its results expresses the convictions governing the project.
| Scripture | The supreme authority |
|---|---|
| Confession | The church’s doctrinal synthesis |
| Authors | Historical theological testimony |
| Reformed Corpus | The search connecting them |
Scripture governs the whole. Confessions and catechisms summarize the church’s understanding of biblical teaching. Christian writers contribute exposition, explanation, encouragement, and application. Their testimony is received gratefully and examined under Scripture.
This arrangement allows you to explore a question through several related sources while preserving the distinction between God’s infallible Word and the church’s fallible witnesses.
Read What They Actually Wrote
Reformed Corpus returns quotations and excerpts from its sources. It does not generate or synthesize an answer.
To make the library searchable, we index passages using vector embeddings: numerical representations of their meaning. Think of them as something like digital library cards that help connect your question with relevant passages—even when an author uses different words to discuss the same subject.
These index entries point back to the text of the books. The passages you read are retrieved from those works, accompanied by source information so you can identify the author, locate the work, and continue reading.
The purpose is simple: help you find what Christian writers actually said and examine it for yourself.
Why “Reformed Corpus”?
“Reformed” names the theological foundation of this project. “Corpus” describes a collection of texts: books, sermons, and other writings that readers can search together.
Here, the search brings together biblical passages, confessional statements, and the words of Christian authors across generations while keeping their distinct authority and context in view.
The name expresses our purpose: to gather faithful Christian testimony under the Word of God and make it accessible to those seeking understanding.
Rooted in the Reformed Faith
Reformed Corpus grows out of Monergism’s commitment to make Christ-centered theological resources widely accessible.
Its foundation is the Reformed faith: the authority and sufficiency of Scripture, the sovereignty of God, and salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, to the glory of God alone.
From that foundation, we value the church’s wider historical inheritance. Earlier generations wrestled with many of the questions we ask today. Their writings can deepen our understanding, challenge our assumptions, strengthen our faith, and encourage faithful Christian living.
The presence of an excerpt does not imply endorsement of everything its author taught. Every writer remains subject to the judgment of Scripture.
From an Excerpt to a Deeper Understanding
A useful quotation opens a door to further reading. Its surrounding argument, biblical context, and historical setting help establish what the author means.
Reformed Corpus provides citations and source links to support that deeper study. Whether you are preparing a sermon, exploring a doctrine, considering a difficult passage, or seeking pastoral encouragement, our aim is to help you discover substantial resources and engage with them thoughtfully.
We hope each search leads you beyond an isolated quotation into a fuller understanding of Scripture and the Christian teaching that serves it.
A Ministry of Monergism
Reformed Corpus is a ministry of Monergism, dedicated to making Christ-centered biblical and theological resources freely accessible.
